Inspired BURST!

Utilizing the tech introduced in v6b that eases weapon creation and carrying on the spirit of the INSPIRE competition from years ago, Inspired BURST! is a new weapon creation competition focused on adapting things from other games into MM8BDM weapons!

"But Korby, I am not good at creating weapons!" you say to yourself, as I cannot hear you through your monitor. "How could I possibly win?!"

Good news, strawman I have invented! On the Official MM8BDM Wiki, we have two, count them TWO very detailed weapon tutorials! That's right, we've got a beginner's guide to using the V6B tools to make a weapon, and even an advanced one showing some of the more complicated tools!

If that's still not enough for you, I'm sure someone would be happy to help you in the MM8BDM Discord! Probably.

This competition will work in two stages; A submission stage and a judging stage.
Submissions will run until September 28th!
Afterward, the judging stage begins!
The three of us judges, Russel, Trillster, and myself (Korby) will attempt to have judging done by October 12th.
The goal of this phase is to have public servers running the weapons in a variety of modes to see how they play in real matches!

The first place winner of this competition will receive the

Blacksmith medal!
Second and Third place winners of this competition will instead receive the

Blacksmith (Runner-Up) medal!

Without further adieu, here are the official rules!

The goal of the competition is to create a weapon compatible with MM8BDM-V6B based on a concept from another game.

The concept you make a weapon based on can be from any game you choose, with a few exceptions.

These games are not viable for entry:
Any game within the Mega Man Franchise (including spinoffs like Mega Man X, Mega Man ZX, Mega Man Battle Network, Mega Man Legends, Mega Man fangames etc.)
Any First Person Shooter or Third Person Shooter
Everything else is fair game!

Only one winner per entrant. You can receive help, but only the submitter will receive a medal in the case of victory.
In addition, we'll only accept one submission per entrant. Put your heart into it!

Submitted weapons must function using the systems introduced in MM8BDM-V6B.pk3

Any ACS made for the weapon must include the source file.

The deadline of September 28th is final, and late submissions are not allowed. Specifically, at 11:59:59 PM EST on September 28th, the submission period will be closed. Please make sure to submit your entries before then!

To sign up, you MUST submit a post in this thread signifying your intention to! This will make it considerably easier for us to track who is joining, and in general make things smoother on our end. Don't forget to post, or your submission will not be counted!

When your weapon is finished and you're ready to submit, you can DM either myself or Trillster on Discord (we're both in the Official MM8BDM Discord!) with your file and a brief rundown of your weapon. Ideally, you'll send us the name of the weapon, what you chose to adapt and what game it's from, and any credits you'd like to include for resources used, if any.

As mentioned previously, the judges are Trillster, Russel, and Korby.

Your weapons will be judged based on a variety of categories, including:

-Adaption - 20 points (eg, how well the original concept was adapted into a weapon)

-Design - 15 points (eg, how intuitive and balanced the weapon is & the concept behind it)

-Aesthetics - 5 points (eg, visuals, audio, and your ability to not go overboard)

-Functionality - 5 points (eg, does your weapon work cleanly and is it compatible with MM8BDM-V6B?)

-Fun - 5 points (eg, super subjective; does it make us say wow, and is it fun to fight against)

After submissions end and we have time to compile them into a file, official servers will be hosted to play with the entries in a variety of modes! This is both so people can have fun with them, and so we can see how they play out in real matches.

It's not necessarily a requirement (and is a fairly nebulous tip LOL), but the closer you can make your weapon feel like something that would be in core, the better you'll likely do!

Also, are pre-made weapons fine to submit (ones that are not in a released wad), or does it have to be made specifically for this?

Premade weapons are fine (and would also be hard to verify on our end anyway) so submit to your heart's content!
I also updated the rules a bit to specify that Megaman fangames are also off the table.
