Hello and thank you for the continued update support,
Chargeable weapons should go straight into charging state when pressing the initial FIRE button, instead of firing an uncharged shot.
Rationale being, ALTFIRE is standardized enough by now to send uncharged shots with optimal fire rate.
- Weapons that should be modified : Proto Buster, Super Adaptor, Duo Fist (very impactful), Laser and Arrow Buster, Mega Arm
- Example of weapons doing it right: Wild Coil, Homing Sniper, Break Dash, Junk Shield
Thank you for your consideration

At the moment, we don't currently have plans to adjust most of our Buster Upgrades to start charging from holding fire, and there's two main reasons for this. A big one is because of the length it takes for them to visibly start charging being pretty wildly different from each other and things like Wild Coil.
Adjusting those timings to be consistent would be a pretty major buff to weapons that have historically been quite oppressive, as well as removing the concept of charge time as a balancing lever. Super Adaptor is a pretty notable example for having a really long charge time.
The other reason is that if we don't adjust those timings, holding fire on some of these weapons - especially Super Adaptor - would equate to your weapon appearing to be doing absolutely nothing for what I would consider an unacceptable amount of time. With a forced fire beforehand, you know the pause is intentional. There're ways to fix this by introducing new sounds/graphics for lower levels of charge, but we start straying from source material there which is always a difficult balance.
There's something to be said about the canon Megaman games not actually having a unified aesthetic for charging, and it's possible we revisit the concept, but I wouldn't expect anything sweeping to be in v6c.
THAT BEING SAID, v6c Duo Fist will be able to charge without firing first. Firing at the floor being optimal to get a charge shot isn't very fun or intuitive gameplay, and the weapon does actually have a unique sprite it swaps to while you're holding down fire.
I'll be closing this post and moving it to Closed. Thanks for the suggestion!
